1. - All divisional teams will compete against one another in dual matches and in a divisional tournament. The team standings will be determined by points earned: one point for each match in dual competition plus one point for team win. In Divisional Tourna-ment competition the winner bracket champions will earn 2 points in each round except they will earn 3 points in the championship match. The semifinal losers will play off to determine 3rd and 4th place. The winner will be awarded ”1” point. Losers bracket will be established for first round losers only. Loser bracket winners will earn one point per win. In order to receive winner bracket points for a first round bye, the player must play in the second round. The above scoring would place the importance of competition on all individual and tournament matches.
2. - The position of players for dual meets and tournament matches must be based on ability. If injury or ineligibility occurs, all players below that player move up one place. If stacking occurs, the guilty team will forfeit all match points of that match. At the O.C.C. Tournament seeding meeting all position-ing and seeding will be subject to discussion and majority vote by the coaches.
3. - Divisional tournaments will be held on the Saturday before the Sectional Tournament at 9:00 a.m. The rain date will be the following Tuesday, if rained out Tuesday, play indoors at each schools expense. Individual champions will be the winners of the divisional tournament. At the seeding meeting for the OCC tournament, any coach may seed a player even if the player's coach decides to decline. A vote among the coaches will then decide the seeds. See page 390 for Division sponsored contest officials fees.
4. - The head tennis coach (school) may designate an adult to represent to represent him as a school representative (coach) in tourna-ment matches that are not held at a site that is supervised by the coach or his assistant. The designated adult may not coach at a site supervised by the head coach or his assistant.
5. - Each school will play 1st, 2nd and 3rd singles and 1st and 2nd doubles in all competition.
6. The coach of the host school shall act as tournament director, make all arrangements and hire an assistant manager that will be responsible for overseeing doubles competition at the Divisional Meet. (see page 390) Any decision involving the host school will be made by the coaches of schools not directly involved.
7. - Starting times for dual matches will be determined by the schools teams involved. 4:30 is the recommended starting time.
8. - Rain out dates must be re-scheduled to the satisfaction of the teams involved.
9. - USLTA and OHSAA rules shall apply.
10. - Un-sportsman like conduct will result in INDIVIDUAL OR DOUBLES TEAM forfeiture. In case of any discrepancies, the home coach has to make the final decision.
11. - The use of tobacco, in any form, during the contest by coaches or players is prohibited.
12. - There shall be no break between sets for boys even if the match goes three sets etc.--- This rule has been deleted by the OHSAA.
13. - Participants will officiate their own matches. If players feel that their opponent is unable to call their shots, then they should call it to the attention of the opposing coach, who in turn should talk to his player. If calls are questioned thereafter, it is permissible for the home coach to assign a line judge to referee the match from that point forward.
14. - If a match is postponed due to inclement weather, play will continue from the point of postponement.
15. - The warm-up period for all matches shall not exceed ten (10) minutes. All warm-up serves in both singles and doubles shall be taken prior to the start of play. During extreme weather, by mutual consent, warm-up could be lengthened to fifteen (15) minutes.
16. - Once the play begins, play shall be continuous. In case of injury or illness, the suffering player shall either forfeit, or continue playing after no more than a brief rest. (five minutes suggested). This type of rest shall not occur more than two times during the match.
17. - COACHING: Coaches may talk to players only when they change ends of the court and shall not delay play by doing so. (one minute permitted) Coaches may not come on the court or interfere with other matches. Coaching is not permitted by anyone other than the school's Board approved tennis coach. The use of signals, cheering (as opposed to applause), veiled suggestions, etc. is considered unethical and is not per-mitted during play.
18. - The twelve (12) point "tie-breaker" system will be used by all OCC schools.
19. - Those schools that have less than five courts will play the matches as follows: 1st, 2nd, 3rd singles; 1st and 2nd doubles. The above can be changed by mutual agreement if a facility problem exists.
20. - Prior to 2:00 p.m., on the day of the match, the home school coach will inform the visiting coach if there is any reasonable doubt about the playability of the court surface.
21. - No team statisticians, or other people, are permitted inside the fence during the matches.
