OCC RULES and REGULATIONS

BOYS GOLF Rules and Regulations

1. - SCHEDULES

a. - Each member of the conference shall play divisional schedules as approved by the Executive Committee.

b. - The conference schedule will have four (4) playing dates for each division at four different sites chosen by the scheduling committee with the schedule beginning on the second Wednesday of August.

2. - TEAMS

a. - Each team shall consist of five (5) players with the best four (4) of the five (5) medal scores counting as the team score. Conference matches between conference schools must follow the five player rule. Non conference matches that do not take school time from athletes may play any number of players.

b. - The fifth score will be used to eliminate ties between teams that have the same best four scores. If the contest is still tied, the contest will remain tied and the points shall be divided between the tied teams.

c. - The O.C.C champion shall be the team with the best won-loss percentage after the four (4) rounds have been completed. Ties will count as one half of a win. For example, a team with a 24-15-1 record would have a .6125 winning percentage. (24.5/40). A team with a record of 18-20-2 record would have a .475 winning percentage.

3. - CONTESTS

a. - The Ohio Capital Conference divisions shall play at different sites on the same day.

b. - If possible, the last two (2) Wednesdays in August and the first two (2)Wednesdays of September shall be divisional play dates with the following Thursdays reserved as the rain date.

c. - The divisional contest play will begin at 1:30 p.m. for half 3/4/91 of the teams and at 2:15 for the other half. On the last Wednesday the times will be advanced to 1:00 and 1:45 due to darkness. The above times are only suggested tee times. The golf coaches, at their November meeting, will recommend tee times after the sites have been chosen. Any tee time earlier than the suggested times must be approved by the Executive Committee.

d. - Sites and tees to be used for the coming season will be selected at the November coaches meeting.

e. - All conference matches should be eighteen (18) holes.

f. - Nine holes must be completed by all five (5) team members to constitute a contest.

g. - When play is terminated with nine (9) or more holes but less than eighteen (18) holes completed by all five (5) team members, the best total score of four (4) of the five (5) team members compiled through the final hole completed by all five (5) team members constitutes a contest.

h. - If less than nine (9) holes have been completed, the contest must be replayed from the beginning.

i. - The host pro or grounds-keeper will determine when a contest will be terminated due to weather or course conditions.

4. - ALL CONFERENCE AWARDS:

a. - See By-Law 7 for information concerning the number of awards. b. Average scores for the season shall be used to determine all conference team members for each division.

c. - A player must play all four (4) dates of the schedule to be eligible for all conference honors and at least three dates to be eligible for honorable mention.

d. - A players average will be determined by averaging all four (4) OCC scores.

e. - If some contests are terminated before eighteen (18) holes, are played, each player score will be converted to an eighteen hole score by using the following formula. (Score after n-holes) times (18/number of holes played). The score should be rounded to the nearest whole number. For example:  A player shot 46 for 11 holes. His converted score would be (46 times 18 divided by eleven) or 75.27 which would be rounded to 75. This score would be averaged with his other 18 hole scores to get his league average.

5. PLAYING RULES:

a. - Play U.S.G.A. rules except where local rules apply.  If the conditions warrant it, the coaches at the site (2/3 of those present) can decide to use ‘winter rules’ or ‘lift, clean, and place in the fairway.’

b. - Displays of temper, profanity and club or equipment throwing will not be tolerated. Penalty for excessive display will result in a two (2) stroke penalty. No warning is required prior to the issuing of the penalty.  An OCC coach only can call the penalty.  Examples:  kicking golf bag, throwing clubs in anger or frustration, slamming club into the ground, swearing, screaming, yelling in anger, throwing ball in anger or frustration.
