| 1. - The conference schedule shall consist of a double round with each member playing other schools of the division on a home and home basis. The Athletic Directors shall determine the number of cross-over games in the Division schedules. At the conclusion of the two-year schedule, a different group of cross-over teams will placed in the new two-year schedule of each school. 2. - There shall be four divisional champions: If the divisional schedule includes crossover games, only divisional games count toward divisional championships. The team with the best won/loss record in its division shall be declared the champion.
3. - Varsity baseball,
varsity softball and reserve softball teams shall play at
the same site. Reserve and freshman baseball and J.V. "B"
teams shall play at the opposite site. (3/15/06)
4. - The home teams
shall provide three (3) game balls that are approved by the
National Federation rule book. (3/15/06)
5. - Conference games shall be seven (7) innings in length. 6. - Prior to daylight savings time, baseball and softball contests will begin at 4:30 p.m. (if a bus problem exists, work it out). After daylight time begins, baseball games begin at 5:00 p.m. and softball games begin at 5:15 p.m.. The visiting team will_receive a 15 minute warm-up period before the contest starts. 7. - Postponed divisional games shall be re-scheduled the following school day or on the first available date and will be re-scheduled in the order of their postponement. 8. - Divisional games shall take preference over cross-over games or non-conference games unless they are tournament games. Failure to comply will result in the forfeiture of the postponed divisional game. 9. - Divisional games shall be postponed if they are to be played on the same day as a O.H.S.A.A. sponsored tournament games involving the conference scheduled teams. After a conference team reaches the District level, they may choose not to play a conference scheduled game one day before or one day after the scheduled tournament game. 10. - Divisional games that are tied after they have been declared a complete game, and are called because of playing conditions, shall be completed. A first-round tie game shall be made up on the date of, and prior to, the second round contest. A tie game that occurs in the second round of play will be made up only if it has bearing on the conference championship. 11. - A regulation game is declared when five (5) full innings have been completed or when the team second at bat has scored equal or more runs in four (4) and a fraction times at bat. Refer to Federation Rule 4, Section 2, Article 4.
12. - In case of
an out of town trip during spring break, Conference schools
will not reschedule conference games prior to the original
scheduled date. Conference games missed due to a spring break
trip will be rescheduled on the first available school day
once school resumes. Softball teams may be exempt from this

13. - A suspended game is one that has not been declared a regulation game. GAME WILL RESUME AT POINT OF SUSPENSION. See OHSAA 1.41 page 64, 1995-6 baseball regulations. 14. - If the home team’s field is unplayable in the first round and the game is moved to the visiting team site, the second round game will be played at the original site of the first round game. The teams would not be required to flop sites in the second round in bad weather. This change may be a problem if transportation and officials are not available. 15. - See By-Law 5, Section 6 for information on temperature and storms. 16. - The use of tobacco by coaches or players, in any form, during the contest is not permitted by the Ohio Capital Conference. 17. - Game expenses shall be the responsibility of the home school in all varsity, reserve and freshman games. 18. - There shall be two (2) officials used in all varsity baseball games and at least one official for all other games. A school may hire more than one official for varsity softball, reserve and freshman baseball and softball games. 19. - All-Conference selections: By-Law 7, Section 1-a. a. - The All-Conference Divisional selections shall be limited to nine (9) First Team selections plus one (1) first team D.H.; nine (9) Second Team select- ions and one (1) Honorable Mention selection from each school. The eighteen (18) first and second team players will be chosen by position but there shall be no limitation by position. There is no mandatory formula for the placement of players on All-Conference teams. 20. - The conference secretary shall see that all coaches are notified to meet the third Monday of May for the purpose of selecting the All Conference teams. The secretary shall provide forms for reporting the selections. Each A.D. "meeting representative" will complete the form for his own use and provide the secretary and all A.Ds’ with an additional copy with correct spellings, position and grade. The secretary shall make arrangements for newspaper release dates. All-Conference information may not be released without the consent of the conference secretary. 21. - The coaches will select one of the players from each division as The Ohio Capital Conference "Divisional Player of the Year" and support his/her selection to the "All District" team. This player must be a member of the "All Conference First Team". 22. - All reserve and freshman baseball games shall be seven (7) innings in length. The ten (10) run rule shall be in effect at the completion of the fifth (5th) inning. 23. - To insure the nomination of candidates for all-conference teams, coaches should consider the following procedures. a. - All coaches may submit a list of all-conference nominees and all pertinent information concerning a scholar-athlete nomination to the A.D. in charge of that sport one week prior to the selection meeting. b. - At the all-conference selection meeting a coach may add or delete any or all names on his/her list and nominate others. c. - If a coach fails to attend the selection meeting or arrives to late to make his nominations, the list he/she provided the A.D. will submitted as his/her nominations. d. - If a coach fails to submit a list or fails to attend the selection meeting, coaches may or may not nominate players from the absent school. |
